An interactive AI story lets a viewer influence the scene while generated video plays. Windflow supplies the realtime model session; your application manages the narrative, choices and permissions. Use a continuous scene model for gradual direction, a shot-oriented model for transitions, or an audio-video model when generated sound is essential.

The practical starting point is one short scene with a small set of choices. Evaluate continuity and response before promising a long, coherent film or unlimited narrative memory.

## Match a choice to a control

| Story interaction | Model to evaluate | Application responsibility |
|---|---|---|
| Change the scene's direction or mood | [Helios](https://windflow.online/models/helios) | Translate a choice into supported prompt conditioning |
| Advance to another shot or make a cut | [LongLive 2.0](https://windflow.online/models/longlive-2) | Track shot order and transition intent |
| Generate picture with sound | [LTX-2.5](https://windflow.online/models/ltx-2-5), [FastH3](https://windflow.online/models/fast-h3) | Respect generation windows and inspect audio output |

Do not give the viewer controls the model cannot honor. A window-based model may apply a choice only after the current window completes. Explain that transition in the UI and show the accepted choice while waiting for its visual effect.

## Keep narrative state outside the generated stream

Store the current scene, characters, approved choices and story progress in your application. Generated frames are observations of the model's output, not a durable database of facts.

Use that state to compose each supported instruction and to resume the experience after a reconnect. If a character's identity or a key object must remain exact, evaluate how the model handles your reference inputs and have a fallback when continuity breaks.

## Prototype a complete story loop

1. Your server authorizes the viewer and issues a scoped token.
2. Connect to a selected model and display startup or queueing state.
3. Configure the supported scene inputs and begin generation.
4. Offer a small number of narrative choices and translate the selected choice into a valid control.
5. Observe when the choice appears, and update the story state.
6. End and release the session at the final scene or when the viewer leaves.

Keep an explicit end action. A video player being paused does not ensure that the owner session has stopped billing. Releasing ownership is part of the product flow.

## Measure a story, not only a demo clip

Use several choice sequences, including repeated or conflicting choices. Check prompt response, identity drift, transition quality and whether the audio aligns with the intended scene. Measure visible latency through the target device.

Start with the [model comparison](https://windflow.online/compare/helios-vs-longlive-vs-ltx) and [latency checklist](https://windflow.online/guides/measure-realtime-video-latency). The purpose is to find a story format the model can sustain, rather than writing a format that depends on undocumented control.

## Budget shared and individual experiences

An individual story with independent choices needs its own session. A host-directed story watched by several authorized viewers can share one session, but all viewers see the same generated state. Windflow is in private beta and capacity is on demand. Arrange a live demo before a public launch or event.

## FAQ

### Can viewers steer an AI story while it plays?

Yes, when the selected model supports the required live controls. Your application maps choices to supported prompt or shot controls and handles the delay before the result appears.

### Can I use the model as the sole source of narrative state?

Keep important narrative facts in your application. Generated video has continuity limits and does not provide a reliable record of inventory, choices or story rules.

### Do multiple viewers require multiple sessions?

Viewers of the same authorized session share one generated state and meter. Independent stories require independent sessions.
